Working as part of a strategic consultancy, Carnegie Dartlet’s Photographer plays a pivotal role in the production of creative media projects. They are called upon to interpret high-level strategy, envision a clear and dynamic visual communication of a client’s brand personality, bring that vision to life through photography, and present and defend the end result to various stakeholders.  

The Photographer must be that rare mix of creative visionary and meticulous planner. They are able to ideate and produce beyond generic styles and constructs in favor of deeply personified expressions that move and motivate audiences. They are able to visualize, organize, and plan a shoot; communicate tasks to team members and clients; be personable and lead the shoot; run the post-production processing and edits; and ultimately execute the original vision.  

Carnegie Dartlet Photographers have a passion for understanding the client and consumer and for creating wholly original and personified photography that unites them. Under the guidance of the Executive Creative Director, the Photographer will innovate, build, and execute a growing suite of Carnegie Dartlet multimedia product offerings. These products will be used to aid our clients to share messages, extend reputation, and accomplish organizational goals. Secondary projects will include partnering with the company’s internal marketing function to produce on-brand, compelling marketing assets. Travel and proven production skills are required, as are critical-thinking skills, the ability to arrive at original concepts, and the ability to work both alone and with cross-disciplinary team members. 


  • Effectively translate a client’s distinct brand and personality into digital media that tells a story.
  • Plan, track, manage, and execute complex photo and multimedia projects.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy to client brand standards, messaging platforms, campaign concepts, student personas, and strategies. 
  • Formulate clear and thoughtful production strategies to meet organizational objectives. 
  • Move production strategies to action, creating high-quality, personified, cohesive photo assets and media in ways that articulate new, desirable realities for audiences.  
  • Elevate creative concepts and styles to move beyond generism to be more emotive, attractive, and engaging to student audiences.  
  • Consult with internal teams regarding client needs, team capacity, scoping, pricing, scheduling, and strategies for content creation.
  • Manage detailed technical breakdowns and planning.
  • Plan and execute complex multi-day photo shoots on location.
  • Source, rent, and operate cameras, lights, and other equipment necessary for the completion of a shoot.
  • Consult with and train clients and their staff on proper techniques, styles, outputs, and tools to create their own consistent, personality-driven multimedia content.
  • Source and purchase music and sound effects for multimedia projects.
  • Manage, catalog, store, and disseminate multimedia assets in a specialized file sharing system.
  • Cultivate a library of examples of archetype expression in multimedia and provide archetypal multimedia samples to the Creative team when necessary.
  • Prepare photo assets for Creative team needs.
  • Contribute to internal marketing as needed. 
  • Represent creative decisions on client calls when needed. 
  • Travel required.


  • An enthusiasm for photography and applied marketing
  • A proven track record in the planning and execution of photo shoots
  • A keen sense of what makes photo storytelling good and what is appropriate for diverse clients, consumers, and target audiences 
  • Videography skills a plus
  • Skill in Adobe Creative Cloud products, especially mastery of Photoshop and Lightroom (Audition, After Effects, and/or Premiere a plus)
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, both in front of clients and between colleagues and internal teams
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills a must
  • The resilience to work across a number of projects simultaneously and balance a
    high-volume workload
  • The ability to follow processes and achieve deadlines
  • The ability to inspire confidence during client interactions
  • The insight to identify problems and take the initiative to help rectify them


  • The ability to work in video production to produce, shoot, light, process, and edit video assets
  • The ability to work in audio production to edit existing audio and music to produce multimedia assets
  • The ability to effectively produce animation, mostly small-scale After Effects or Premiere projects like logo animations and intros and outros to video assets
  • Any ability to also work professionally in graphic design or production design


Carnegie Dartlet’s Photographer must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Photography, Visual Arts, Multimedia Production, or a related field. At least five years of formal client-side experience in design, photography, videography, multimedia, and/or a related industry is required. Proven results thriving within complex media projects and working alongside interdisciplinary teams is important. Applicants must provide a vast portfolio of demonstrated ability.
