Location - Seattle, WA or Portland, OR

The primary responsibility of a Regional Director (RD) is to serve as the key sales and relationship manager for the majority of Carnegie Dartlet clients within a specified geographic territory. They will represent the full suite of services for the company with existing clients as well as for new client opportunities. The Regional Director is a key in-person client relationship manager and is tasked with traveling throughout their territory on a regular and frequent basis to meet with as many schools as possible. The RD will have a passion for and full knowledge of strategic sales capabilities to position our full suite of services in a fully customized and consultative manner in order to maximize results for their clients.  

Typical activities

While the breadth of the Regional Director’s duties is wide, these tasks are common:

  • Frequent travel throughout their designated geographic territory to visit many colleges, universities, and other clients on an ongoing basis
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key client leaders, directors, and other personnel responsible for making budgetary and vendor relationship decisions
  • Managing territory sales pipeline and service mix required to meet or exceed revenue and portfolio goals
  • Driving renewal and growing/expanding sales with existing clients while identifying and cultivating new potential clients and driving the sales process through contracting
  • Working in a team environment to manage and expand critical relationships at larger comprehensive clients
  • Having a dedicated focus on overall territory growth to include new business development via day-to-day activity, conference presence and presentations, customized territory marketing, and more

Skills required

A Regional Director must possess a wide range of abilities, which will include:

  • High-level sales acumen across a range of strategic and transactional environments
  • Experience in or understanding of the higher education industry a significant plus
  • Expert-level relationship management skills
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout territory
  • Highly detail oriented and able to manage simultaneous projects
  • Excellent communication skills internally and externally, written and oral, in person, and in presentations

Experience

Carnegie Dartlet’s Regional Director must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field and have at least five years of experience in sales, marketing, communications, research, or a related industry. Higher education experience is preferred but not required.
