Carnegie Dartlet is currently looking for a Sales Operations and Business Development Manager. The primary responsibilities of this individual will revolve around managing the day-to-day reporting and analysis needs for the Sales team as a whole and to drive new business opportunities and growth within a specified geographic region. They will need to be able to run and analyze activity and sales-oriented data and effectively communicate the insights, findings, and requirements of those to both individual team members and leadership. In addition, this individual will need to have experience in a direct sales role with an emphasis on new business development. This position will serve as the key sales and relationship manager within the region and will represent the full suite of services for the company with existing clients as well as new client opportunities. They will be tasked with traveling throughout their territory on a regular and frequent basis to meet with as many schools as possible. 

Typical activities

  • Frequent travel throughout the designated geographic territory to visit college and university clients and prospects on an ongoing basis
  • Run activity, pipeline, and sales reporting for the entire team and deliver regular updates to all relevant stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and direction to Sales team members based on reporting data and progress
  • Manage individual territory sales pipeline and service mix required to meet or exceed revenue and portfolio goals
  • Drive renewal and grow/expand sales with existing clients
  • Identify and cultivate new potential clients and drive the sales process through contracting
  • Dedicated focus to overall territory growth to include new business development via day-to-day activity, conference presence and presentations, customized territory marketing, and more

Skills required

  • Sales acumen across a range of strategic and transactional environments with an emphasis on new business development/growth
  • Experience in, or understanding of, higher education industry a significant plus
  • Expert-level relationship management skills
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout territory
  • Highly detail oriented and able to manage simultaneous projects
  • Excellent communication skills both internally and externally, written and oral, in person, and in presentations


Candidate must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field and have at least five years of experience in sales, sales operations, marketing, communications, research, or a related industry. Higher education experience is preferred but not required.
