Position Overview:

Are you an SEO content guru? Do you love to write copy for the web? Do you love to measure your writing using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and the like? Have you dabbled in technical site audit tools, crawling websites and identifying their top issues? Then you might be our next SEO Content Marketer.

Carnegie Dartlet is looking for an experienced writer and SEO expert to be their next SEO Content Marketer. This person would work out of our Westford, Massachusetts office and service our higher education clients. This person will work with clients to identify a content strategy and write optimized web content while also working closely with other writers on the team. Excellent communication skills are essential for this roleboth written and verbal.

The SEO Content Marketer must be an excellent writer first and foremost, with the knowledge of how web content differs from print and how to optimize web content for search engine visibility. Technical SEO skills are secondary, but the ideal candidate will be familiar with them on some level with an interest to strengthen their knowledge in this area. They will eventually take on the role of walking clients through back-end technical issues on their websites, so experience managing a CMS is a big plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing and editing content for college and university websites
  • Strategizing on what type of content is best for each client
  • Performing keyword research
  • Performing technical site audits and making recommendations to clients
  • Managing tasks in the team’s project management system
  • Communicating with clients via phone and email
  • Measuring website performance in Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and rank tracking tools


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, or related field
  • 3-5 years professional web writing and SEO experience
  • Experience with tracking tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • Comfort talking to clients on the phone, via email, and in-person also a must
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and time management skills
  • Experience with higher education marketing a plus
  • Familiarity with CMSs a plus
