Rising Seniors: A Study on COVID-19's Impact on the Class of 2021

As schools begin to solidify plans for this fall, prospective students from the high school Class of 2021 are still focused on their own college search plans. Carnegie Dartlet is pleased to share data from these rising seniors as well as a strategic road map for the recruitment of next fall’s class amid the COVID-19 situation.

This report covers the responses of more than 1,500 rising seniors from Carnegie Dartlet’s CollegeXpress platform. The survey included questions about touring, college choice, and the impact of the outbreak. The strategic insights are led by Carnegie Dartlet’s experts in higher education recruitment strategy and digital implementation team.

Here are just a few of the key findings:

  • 60% of students say an in-person experience is critical
  • 75% of students are using college websites for active information seeking, up from 66% in the past
  • 52% of rising seniors are more concerned about paying for college since the outbreak
